Born in 1988, Budinger's basketball journey began at the University of Arizona, where he earned All-American honors. Drafted into the NBA in 2010, he played for several teams, including the Houston Rockets and Indiana Pacers. Despite his promising basketball career, Budinger decided to pursue his passion for beach volleyball in 2018.
"I always loved playing beach volleyball growing up," said Budinger. "When I retired from the NBA, I knew I wanted to give it a shot." With his NBA experience providing a foundation of athleticism and teamwork, Budinger quickly adapted to the demands of beach volleyball. Alongside his partner, Miles Evans, he has achieved significant success on the international circuit.
In their first tournament together, Budinger and Evans defeated the French duo of Youssef Krou and Arnaud Gauthier-Rat in straight sets. This victory propelled them into the spotlight, showcasing Budinger's exceptional transition from basketball to beach volleyball. As they prepare for the Olympics later this year, Budinger and Evans are determined to make their mark on the world stage.
