BTS Enlistment: Jungkook and Three Other Members to Begin Military Service

In a recent update, Jungkook of BTS has announced that he will begin his mandatory military service in December 2023. The announcement was made via a letter posted on Weverse, the official fan community platform for BTS.

Four BTS Members to Enlist

In addition to Jungkook, three other members of BTS are also expected to enlist in the military: RM, Jin, and Jimin. The group's management, BigHit Music, confirmed that all four members will serve their required time in the military, as is customary for all able-bodied South Korean men.

Timeline and Details

According to the announcement, Jungkook is expected to enlist in December 2023 and return from service in June 2025. The other members' enlistment timeline will be announced at a later date.

Government Exemption

South Korea's parliament passed a bill in 2020 that would have allowed certain individuals, including pop stars who have made significant contributions to the country's culture, to postpone or exempt their military service. However, BTS members voluntarily decided to fulfill their obligations.
